I had high hopes for this unit as our house gets really dry during the winter but it is not very effective. I have a 1600 sq ft house and the highest I can get the humidity in the winter with the whole house humidifer is about 30%. I like the fact that you don't have to fill it each day and that it works off a humidistat but I'd estimate for every gallon of moisture it puts in the air 10-20 run down the drain. Additionally, you need to use a water filter to prevent calcium and lime from building up on the wicking filter. Even with the water filter we still have to replace the wicking filter at least twice during the winter.
It's just OK. For all the work I had to do to install it I'd look for a different option given the poor results.
Pros: No need to fill daily, low maintenance, distributes humidity to whole house
Cons: Not effective, Waste Water, Must Replace Wicking Filter Regularly, Often Necessary for Water Filter
