The hardwire junction box offers the only means to hardwire several of the compatible products and still comply with state/local codes and the NEC (National Electric Code). If the product is not listed as compatible, then the product is a “plug-in only” type. Never cut the plug off of any product and attempt to hardwire it! That will harm the light and will also void the warranty.
The hardwire junction box is for use when 120V AC power is stubbed out from the wall and 120V connections need to be made inside of a UL Listed compartment. By using this handy accessory with the recommended products, you will have safe electrical connections, two 5-amp output ports and an On/Off rocker switch. The rocker switch can be left in the “On” position and the lighting system can be controlled by a wall switch (with proper branch circuit wiring).
The dimensions of this low profile accessory are 4” x 2.5” and only 1” in height. Each hardwire box includes a cable clamp connector to attach to the supply wire, one ground wire, and three wire nuts. If you are not familiar with working with electricity and installing electrical devices, hire an electrical contractor and/or licensed electrician to install the hardwire box. This is not considering a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) type of installation. Do not mount the junction box over a sink or stove. The usual installation is to mount to the underside of a cabinet, next to the wall where the supply wires can enter the hardwire box through the 3/8" knockout at the back of the enclosure.
Four important things to remember:
1. Consult a licensed electrician if you are not sure about the installation!!!
2. Turn off power to the branch circuit prior to installation!!!
3. Only use this product with the compatible Patriot Lighting products listed above.
4. For indoor use (dry locations) only.
