First, the cardboard box the lamp is shipped in is inadequate. All of the boxes in stock at the two stores we looked at were partially crushed and/or damaged. The lamp globes inside appeared ok (we had the clerk check before we bought the lamps) so we bought two anyway since the style matched other lights we had. Unfortunately, when we unpacked the lamps at home, we discovered a) the styrofoam packing material disintegrates into tiny little beads that make a terrible mess, and b) that the paint job on the lamp is terrible. It looks like someone handled the lamp before the paint finished drying -- it was smudged in portions. One of the two lamps was complete unacceptable, so we exchanged it. The replacement lamp had even worse problems with the paint including spots were rust were showing through. So our experience is that 3 out of 3 of these lamps had poor workmanship.
Clearly Menards needs to inspect the quality of their merchandise. You would you think they might have checked a couple of these lamps when they saw the boxes were all smashed up.
If you do buy these lamps, plan on unpacking them somewhere it is easy to clean up all the tiny bits of styrofoam and be prepared to return them if you don't like smudged paint and/or rust.
